The school

Progression built one step at a time

Santa Croce Wing Center is PlayaRENT’s WingFoil school: a place to discover the wind, learn to control the wing and progress towards a hydrofoil board. We coach complete beginners as well as riders who want to make their riding safer, smoother and more independent.

Every lesson is built around your starting point. We begin with safety, equipment and wing control, then move to balance, direction and points of sail on a stable board, through to foil handling and first flights. We work in small groups, with instructors close by and live radio-helmet feedback.

Personal progression

No two lessons are identical: exercises and equipment change with your abilities, the wind and your goals.

Small groups

Two instructors can follow up to four students in total while keeping the assistance attentive.

Equipment to suit you

Stable boards for learning, then hydrofoil equipment to turn control into riding and flight.

The conditions

The wind on Lake Santa Croce

The lake is known for its thermal breeze. On favourable days it tends to build from the south around midday and in the afternoon, especially during the milder season. Strength, start time and duration vary from day to day.

Lesson times are therefore assessed from the forecast and confirmed against the actual conditions on site. If the wind is unsuitable, the programme may be changed or postponed: safety always comes before the schedule.

On-water support

Support boat and radio-helmet coaching

During on-water sessions, the support boat lets the instructor follow the exercises, reach the student quickly and assist with recovery or the return to shore.

The radio helmet keeps you in contact with the instructor even at a distance, so corrections arrive while you are riding instead of after every attempt. Briefing, right-of-way rules, equipment checks and safety procedures are part of every lesson.

A pathway built around you

Every course begins with your actual abilities. If you are new, we build solid foundations on a stable board; if you already have experience, we work on riding, independence and foil skills. START, PROGRESS and FLY provide increasing room to practise and progress further.
